Life Qi Renewal

James Leary, DMQ, PhD

I love Life!  I love Energy!
Most of all, I love Nature!

Life energy or Qi is something that can be cultivated and renewed in the body.  It can heal injuries, eradicate illness, correct imbalances, and restore harmony to the system.  Your mind, thoughts, emotions and physical conditions are interconnected.  When I work with your body, I help you learn "Out with the old; in with the new!"  Emotional wounds can go.  Physical impairments can go.  New dreams can come in.  Renewed enthusiasm can begin.

I am a Doctor of Medical Qigong, Doctor of Oriental Medicine and PhD of Behavioral Psychology.  I combine the protocols and wisdom of both methodologies with my intuition, compassion and resolution, helping you let go of old patterns that no longer serve your highest expression of life.

What do you feel?  What do you really want?   Your belief in your life and yourself can be restored.  Your health can be improved.  If you allow new energy to come in, your life will change.  You can be beautiful.  Be you. I am delighted when I see people open to their true energy.  Big dreams are coming forward...  if you allow it!

Your Hopes & Dreams

Your hopes and dreams are the most important thing you can focus on. After you’ve been with me for awhile, you’ll hear this phrase a lot – “Out with the Old and In with the New.” “Out with the Old” is simple – just exhale the stuff that doesn’t work for you anymore and show it where to go. (Bye bye)

“In with the New” can be a little trickier. Not everyone feels immediately comfortable reaching into the Unknown and being the new person they’re not entirely sure they can be. You have to enthusiastically reach for the higher energy, the higher Source. After your Life Qi Renewal session you have a window of opportunity –  the old stuff gets flushed out, your window is clean. The big question is: What are you going to put in that new space?

Be bigger. Brighter. Go for your dreams. How can you keep expanding? This is your homework. Only you can do it. If you can’t do your homework, I won’t be able to continue working with you.

Start talking or writing about your dreams. Journal. Share. Use affirmations. Mantras are good. Try this mantra: I give myself permission to heal. I give my body permission to reach for a higher source. You will learn many such mantras when you study with me.

So often we limit ourselves by reaching only as high as we have reached before, or as high as we were allowed to reach as dictated by our parents and teachers. If you didn’t have good teachers and amazing parents, you might not be reaching as high as you know you can.

There are two laws – laws of mankind and laws of Nature. Laws of mankind can be twisted, interpreted and manipulated; they are not true 100% of the time. Laws of nature on the other hand are always true – nature doesn’t lie. The ocean, trees, wind, sun, plants and flowers are incapable of lying. They are pure energy, purely sourced. That energy is what created YOU. Your source for living is Nature – you were made from the elements and you flow according to the laws of Nature and in cooperation with Nature. As you understand this, you will be able to know what is true for you and what is not.

How do you know what is true for you? The thing that is true for you (food, relationship, job, etc) feels good, you can breathe with it. It helps you expand, it puts a smile on your face. It is supported by the Universe at large. It is in communion and cooperation with Mother Nature.

Food is Medicine

When you want to heal, food is your best ally. Plants, herbs and spices have been used for thousands of years to heal and improve health. What do you have in your fridge, ready to consume? Soft drinks and energy bars? Or blueberries and salad greens? Think about it – the foods you buy are the ones you’re going to eat. Your decisions start at the market! Buy fresh produce and pick the ones that are most vibrant, freshest, juiciest, most appealing.

You could make a list of the foods you eat and put them in categories of low Ph and high Ph. Proteins, nuts, processed foods, coffee and sugar leave a high acidic ash residue when burned, in other words a high Ph. Acidic foods are harder for your body to utilize.  Your body’s Ph is about 7.35-7.45 so you want your food to be as close to that Ph as possible. Plant-based foods are closest to your body’s Ph. Not only are plants easier to digest, they are known to actively detox any imbalances you may have created through bad eating, stress or travel. Eat more plants, the greener the better.

Stress plays an important role in body health.  When your body feels weak, when emotional triggers reactivate past traumas, when you overwork, or just plain don’t enjoy what you’re doing, the stress response creates mineral depletion. Your body needs more minerals (magnesium, nitrogen, calcium, etc) to stay balanced – so where does your body find the extra minerals it needs? It takes them from your bones or other vital store areas of minerals. It’s not just disease that creates ill health; stress does more to deplete your minerals than any disease.

So try to stay happy. Connect to your dreams. Really do it. And the moment you start feeling stressed, reach for a glass of water. Good, mineral-enriched, natural spring water. High Ph water. Find a good source for your water. Water flushes your organs, improves brain function, and (if sourced with minerals) helps replenish minerals in your body.

Sugar Blues

Sweetness is a good thing –  it cultivates emotions like kindness, nurturing and creativity. In food, a sweet taste brings a smile, a loving exchange, a new idea.

Sweet is a taste in the family of five tastes (sweet, sour, bitter, pungent, hot). Sweet taste comes from naturally ripened fruits, from slowly baked winter roots and squashes, honey, and plant sap (maple syrup, brown rice syrup).

But not all sweet foods are beneficial to your health. Commercial sugar (white sugar, cane sugar, brown sugar, sucrose, glucose, fructose, dextrose) and foods made with commercially created sweeteners have a high acidic ash content when flash-burned in a vacuum. What this means to you is: sugar creates an internal environment of acidity. Acidic substances increase toxicity levels and set you up for stress response (fight or flight).

Foods made with processed sugars are often made with processed flours, fillers and preservatives. Substances like these only make it more difficult for you to feel good, stay healthy and be relaxed.

You can generate a sweet feeling through kindness, service and sharing. Sharing and working towards your dreams helps you stay positive and be true to you. You can enjoy sweet tastes through naturally sweetened fruits, baked squashes and roots, honey and maple syrup.

When it comes to food politics, vote with your pocketbook – your money influences how farmers are supported and get recognized.
